El Deber reports about an interview CNN made to Beni’s Governor Ernesto Suarez, the picture to the right, appeared in El Deber’s edition, 12/22/11.

The suspended Governor from Beni, Ernesto Suarez, explained in a CNN interview, about his legal and political situation facing in Bolivia. He pointed out that the suspension of his audience was prudent, as there was fear of heated reactions by many of Beni’s people, who continue to support  the suspended authority.

CNN presenter, Claudia Palacios, asked on the cause for the suspension of his audience to be held at 15: 30 yesterday and postponed to 9: 00 of February 17, 2012, Suárez replied categorically that was “an instructive (of the Government) to try to put cool cloths to high temperature in the Department”, as a result of the reaction of the people against the coup d’etat that has developed in Beni.

The defendant Governor added that he feels as a haunted politician. He complained that the Government of Evo Morales used the judiciary to ‘remove’ the opposition, situation which happened with the Prefects of Pando, Leopoldo Fernández; and José Luis Paredes ‘Pepelucho’ from La Paz; as well as the former Governor of Tarija, Mario Cossío. The former is currently in jail and the last two are out of the country as political refugees.
