TIPNIS protest-walk arrived La Paz city!!

Despite the logistics and threats by central government, the brave TIPNIS marchers arrived destination. Kudos for those brave Bolivians, for fighting and defending their territories and also for fighting to protect OUR National Parks!!

Indigenous Peoples arrived in the city of La Paz and call for dialogue with the Government without conditions

Nearly a thousand indigenous that compose the ninth march came to Chuquiaguillo around 11:15 to the city of La Paz, in order that the Government accept to initiate dialogue on the platform of demands of this sector, which calls for respect for protected areas and not build the Villa Tunari-San Ignacio de Moxos road in the middle of the indigenous territory and Isiboro Secure National Park (TIPNIS).

The President of Sub Central Tipnis, Fernando Vargas, said Wednesday that the Government should start dialogue with those representatives who lead the indigenous 9th March and not be subject to any conditional dialogue waiting for all representatives, or corregidores who are inside the Tipnis, as the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Ramón Quintana expressed in a letter that was sent to the leadership of the ninth March on Tuesday afternoon.

“Dialogue is given because here the people are marching, the bases are marching, the bases are mobilized, therefore there is a March Committee and a political Commission and with those has to start the dialogue,” said Vargas.

One of the main demands of the column of marchers refers to the fulfillment of the law 180, protection of the TIPNIS, an achievement of the 8th March [Sep 2011], also demand the repeal of the law 222 of future reference, the withdrawal of illegal settlements and the illegal plantations of coca in the National Park.

In addition, request the imprisonment of the authors of the police intervention on September 25 in Chaparina, compensation and public satisfaction by the Government; Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca clarification of his false abduction; and that political persecution to indigenous leaders cease.

The ninth indigenous March which departed on April 27 in the city of Trinidad met 62 days of marching in the middle of the inclement weather and road halfway, by the beginning of the hike, delayed for several days. On the way dialogue was sought with the Government in the town of Chaparina, which failed to start because it was not accepted by the authorities of State.

Population comes to the streets to welcome the marchers column

The population took to the streets to welcome the ninth March of the indigenous people that already runs through the main streets of the City Government Headquarters. Solidarity people with the mobilization in defense of the TIPNIS handed out food and drinks to children, men, women, and elderly that after 62 days of travel from Trinidad, Beni, arrived La Paz city.
