This cartoon is from El Diario, November 30, 2011. It portrays how much money laundering, and narco-traffick are becoming a real nuisance and are also more widely perceived by Bolivian society; out there for anyone to see…
In the cartoon the person is pointing and saying: “these buildings are known as ‘washing buildings’ they whiten the ‘twisted’ money and the prices rise like foam” So, those of us who have clean salaries, and/or savings do not only have to cope with inflation but also to the “narco-multiplier” effect…
In the past it was demonstrated that well-managed alternative development crops, without road blockades, could have been as profitable as the coca crop. However, once the “value added” of the coca paste and cocaine was present, there was no comparison, no way in earth to compete legal crops with these coca/cocaine business.
Now, Bolivians are also acknowledging that these illegal products do have an effect on inflation; by rising up the prices of our daily live’s products and services.
So, if we do not put an end to these laundering and narco-trafficking, our society will continue to be permeated and our industries and employment will be driven towards illegal activities and anarchy.
