Hail and flood damage crops
More than 4,500 hectares of fruit and vegetables were affected by hail and floods in the last two months in the department of Cochabamba, authorities reported yesterday. [12/15/2014]
“We overcame more than 4,500 hectares at the departmental level between crops that have been affected,” said Secretary of Productive Development of the Governors Office of Cochabamba, Juan Ocaña.
According to this authority, the most severe impairment was recorded in the Tropic of Cochabamba, with almost 3,800 hectares damaged by overflowing rivers.
I just wonder how many of those damaged hectares in the Chapare were coca plantations… my guess would be that the crop most protected there is the illegal coca.
