Why current Bolivian president travels so much??!

This attitude has become evident for years, every time there were problems, demonstrations and even casualties this president was away from country.

In this cartoon, El Diario, January 15, 2012. The vice-president greets current president: “..how lucky you are “evito” [little Evo] you just got here from abroad and other trips are waiting for you…!” in the past some analysts said the MAS was trying to protect the image of the president, others said there is a group that takes the decisions in this government and just use this president as a cover, a facade.

He travels SO much that he “instructed” a very expensive ‘presidential terminal’ be built next to the TAM’s in El Alto airport.

When he became president, he travelled around the world, everybody but Mandela greeted him. At that time there were attempts to have him win the peace nobel prize. Now, after more than 60 people dying in events that could and should have different outcomes, that possibility, thank God! has faded away. Carlos Valverde has produced a video and a book with all those unfortunate and violent events, so people would remember.

Apparently, this president will continue to travel, management by walking around some people said to me long time ago. In this case, however, this president prefers to travel outside Bolivia, he spent over $1,500 per night at a very expensive hotel in Cuzco, Peru during Christmas time. He travelled to “monitor” how the Chinese satellite he bought is being assembled. When he goes to the UN meetings, and speaks, not even his closer friends (Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Nicaragua, Ecuador) listen to what he has to say. When in country and after some goof-ups he says “now i know, I am learning…” after six years in office, he continues to do politics, and neglects to support the productive sector, bans on agricultural exports are still enforce, discouraging production and investment.

Does he travel to avoid his job, has he realized he does not have what it takes to govern?
