The arsonists 👎🏽 Los incendiarios

Renzo Abruzzese, Los Tiempos:

Until last week, the fires of the last two months have devastated more than 3.5 million hectares. The Government reports daily how many heat sources exist, but maintains a suspicious silence regarding the magnitude of the devastated hectares and their location. Something like this had not been seen before in our country. One might think that they have increased due to climatic effects, and that is relatively true, however, environmental experts and the Executive Body itself believe that not even doubling the intensity of the drought and the rise in temperatures could produce the number of fires that we are undergoing.

Added to all this is that it is no longer a secret to anyone that 80% of forest fires are caused intentionally. These are potential invaders who “prepare” the seizure of these properties that, once devastated by fire, in many cases under the protection of the Government, will later be legalized through the National Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA).

The Government refuses to declare a national emergency, it distances itself from a large part of its responsibilities and attributes them to the state, departmental and municipal levels. In any case, it is clear that it observes with some satisfaction the amount of land it will have available to negotiate votes in 2025. This is clearly a maneuver that is absolutely consistent with Masista morality.

However, beyond all these painful twists and turns, the fact that 80% or more of the fires were set premeditated reveals the magnitude of the general deterioration of national society. The vast majority of citizens around the world consider without much qualms that setting fire to “Mother Earth” is a criminal act that threatens not only environmental balance, but also all forms of life on the planet. Arsonists could easily be classified as criminals; in fact, our legislation contemplates a type of crime called “ecocide.”

With absolute certainty, 20 years ago not even the poorest of the poor dared to set fire to vast areas of the national territory, let alone try to do so in a protected area, this type of criminals are a new product, they are the result of the “ Process of change” and the failure of the plurinational Masista project.

20 years ago no one dared to set fire to the country, and they did not do it because all citizens (regardless of their creed, their ethnic affiliation, their political preference, their socioeconomic level, or any other distinction) knew that personal appetites and Political perks had a moral limit and an ethical standard that no one was willing to transgress. There was a country where coexistence depended on mutual acceptance, on the recognition of certain values and social norms that set limits, granted rights and demanded obligations.

20 years ago, justice (without being a paragon of virtue, because it never was) was applied with a certain rigor to everyone who committed a crime; today they are rewarded, given land, given diplomatic positions and publicly acknowledges.

20 years ago, no Government would have maintained an overwhelmingly complicit, criminal and clearly calculated silence like the silence of the current Government.

20 years ago, we had a country whose institutions gave consistency to the social fabric, functioning strongly linked to the values that guaranteed life within the framework of legality, solidarity, and compliance with duties.

Almost 18 years have passed since Evo Morales took power and took on the task, neatly continued by Arce Catacora, of pulverizing all the mechanisms that give moral and ethical consistency to societies. In the depths of national sentiment we know that we have been left with the remains of a nation that is struggling in search of a historical solution capable of reconstructing its institutions and the nation itself.

Under these conditions, the arsonists are not creations of the devil, they are the only thing that could produce the failed plurinational project, the result of which can be perceived as a moment in which nothing is where it should be, least of all the values, principles, norms and law, so, if you try to set fire to your neighbor, don’t worry, nothing will happen to you, such an outrage is in the Masista script.
