New earthquake in Cochabamba, now near Aiquile

Los Tiempos reports:
2014-04-22 07.51.09 amAn earthquake of 3.6 degrees of magnitude on the Richter scale panicked the Sunday night the population of Aiquile, distant 137 kilometers from Cochabamba, and forced a group of neighbors to spend the night in the streets of that city, fearing the collapse of their homes.

According to the analyst of the San Calixto Observatory, Guido Avila, the seismic event had the epicenter at Campero province, 25 kilometers from the municipality of Aiquile.

The tremor, qualified by the Observatory as moderate, also forced temporary Carmen López hospital patients to be evacuated; the facility suffered some cracks in its infrastructure. Several houses also have reported minor damage.

Back in 90s, Aiquile along with Totora suffered an earthquake; I remember looking at the Church and some houses, at that time USAID provided assistance that made the difference, they were other times. I just hope Bolivia is free from major earthquakes as our logistics is precarious.
