The president of the Apdhb pointed out that the order not to let her see the civic potosino came from the Ministry of Government.

The president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, denounced that after hours of waiting, they did not let her see the civic leader of Potosí Marco Pumari, who is being held in the Cantumarca prison. She considered that the order not to let her enter came from the Ministry of Government.

“I was in there for three hours. I spoke with the police, they told me ‘yes, he is, he is going to get out, a moment’, (they) came back and disappeared. I immediately realized that what they wanted was to tire me out,” Carvajal said in a video.

She explained that she arrived in Cantumarca at approximately 3:00 p.m. She was aiming to visit Pumari, who was arrested in December last year. However, she said that she realized that they would not let her see the civic and as the only consolation they gave her a chair to wait.

“That’s when I realized it. (That this) is one more proof for my work, to demonstrate nationally and internationally that there are political prisoners in Bolivia, like Mr. Pumari and many others.” The representative told that the Assembly receives up to 70 or 80 complaints of this type every day.

On Friday morning, Carvajal received the recognition of “Pleasant guest of the city of Potosí”, by the Municipal Council and the Civic Committee.

“Ahí me di cuenta.
