According to a U.S. congressman, MAS has turned Bolivia into “a pariah state”

Carlos Antonio Giménez criticized Evo Morales’ government and its impact on the Bolivian economy

U.S. Congressman Carlos Antonio Giménez, who represents Florida’s 26th congressional district, stated that the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) has turned Bolivia into “a pariah state in the region.”

His statement came in response to a controversy this Saturday between businessman Marcelo Claure and Public Works Minister Edgar Montaño regarding the feasibility of investing in the country. Read the full article here.

“It’s unfortunate, but it’s true. Under Evo Morales and his MAS puppets, Bolivia has become a pariah state in the region,” posted Giménez, a member of the Republican Party, on his X account.

With these words, he supported Claure’s stance, who dismissed Bolivia as a reliable investment destination, stating that political and economic uncertainty creates distrust among entrepreneurs.

The debate arose when the Public Works Minister accused Claure of seeking benefits from state-owned companies after failing to enter the lithium business. The businessman responded that the minister’s attitude only reinforces the perception that the country lacks stability and legal security, which affects its competitiveness in the region.
