More than 40 properties have been invaded in the department of Santa Cruz, reported this Monday Jaime Hernández, general manager of the Association of Oilseed and Wheat Producers (Anapo).

“According to the data handled by our parent entity (the Agricultural Chamber of the East), we understand that there are more than 40 properties that are invaded in different states of situation,” he told Unitel.

Recently the Santa Rita and San Fernando properties, in Guarayos, were invaded, when people with weapons and hooded men entered the properties.

Although the Government reported that the Police recovered Santa Rita, the invaders remain in San Fernando, a 5,000 hectare property, belonging to the Jihussa Agricultural and Services Company, which was in preparation for the planting of soybeans.

Hernández said: “These groups are generating anxiety and fear among those who produce food for the country.”

“As a productive sector, we hope that we can also find out who the ringleaders and financiers are, so that they can be arrested and punished accordingly,” added the Anapo manager.

The Police and the Attorney General’s Office have begun operations to rescue the San Fernando property and capture those responsible for the new invasion.

Meanwhile, the agricultural sector is demanding strong measures to stop the armed attacks that put agricultural production and security at risk in the Guarayos region.
