Free importation of fuels is authorized with decree 5271

The regulation determined to “exceptionally authorize private individuals or legal entities to import diesel and gasoline for commercialization in the domestic market.” Previously, the government issued a decree allowing the importation of diesel and gasoline for personal use. The announcement was made by the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Alejandro Gallardo, at a press conference.
The official clarified that YPFB will continue importing and selling fuel at a subsidized price in the domestic market.
It remains to be seen if the new measure will be effective, as one of the difficulties is the lack of dollars, a problem that has been affecting sectors dependent on the importation of supplies since 2023.
The government pointed to the 24 days of blockades by the Evo-supporting sector as the cause of the problem, but eight days after the roads were cleared, long lines persist at fuel stations nationwide.
President Luis Arce is scheduled to meet with the agricultural sector in Santa Cruz this Friday afternoon to address the issue. The president stated on Sunday that the situation will normalize in 10 days, with the period beginning today.

Agobiado por la escasez de combustibles, el gobierno aprobó este miércoles la libre importación y comercialización de combustibles en el país por un lapso de un año.
Esta fue una de las demandas realizadas por los sectores agropecuarios e industriales de Santa Cruz, que están entre los más golpeados por el abastecimiento irregular de diésel y gasolina.
La norma determinó “autorizar de manera excepcional a personas naturales o jurídicas privadas la importación de diésel y gasolina para su comercialización en el mercado interno”. Anteriormente, el gobierno promulgó un decreto que permite la importación de diésel y gasolina para consumo propio. El anuncio lo hizo el ministro de Hidrocarburos, Alejandro Gallardo en conferencia de prensa.
El funcionario aclaró que YPFB continuará importando y comercializando el combustible a un precio subvencionado en el mercado interno
Resta saber si la nueva medida será efectiva, ya que una de las dificultades es la falta de dólares, problema que viene afectando a sectores que dependen de la importación de insumos desde la gestión 2023.

El presidente Luis Arce tiene prevista una reunión en Santa Cruz con los agropecuarios este viernes por la tarde para abordar el tema. El mandatario señaló el domingo que la situación se normalizará en 10 días, en un plazo que corre desde esta jornada.
