The members of the electoral body will also propose the modification of the law for judging high state officials so that they are tried in a trial of responsibilities for their actions during the exercise of their duties.
Electoral Tribunal (TSE) official, Tahuichi Tahuichi, announced that this state body will summon representatives of political parties to a meeting to decide whether this year to prioritize holding primary elections or judicial elections.
“We are going to call all national political parties with the aim of achieving certain agreements to cancel the primary elections because we have reached the moment of deciding whether we want judicial elections or primary elections,” the official said yesterday in an interview with the Cadena A television network.
Electoral forecasts indicate that this year primary elections should be held in which political parties choose their candidate to represent them in the 2025 general elections; however, the election of high judges of the Judicial body is also pending.
The electoral process for the election of high judicial positions was supposed to take place last year, but the lack of agreements in the Legislative Assembly postponed those elections and now conflicts with the primaries.
TSE President, Oscar Hasentteufel, announced on Friday that this state body is drafting a bill to cancel the primary elections from the electoral calendar to prioritize the holding of judicial elections.
“Judicial elections are an election that should not be contaminated with other types of components, and in a primary election, the political element is always present,” the electoral authority justified then.
Vocal Tahuichi also stated that another objective of the meeting would be to request that electoral officials be judged through a trial of responsibilities for crimes or offenses they might commit in the exercise of their functions.
“Another objective of the meeting is to ask the politicians who have representation in the Assembly to be honest, to give us guarantees to work without any political pressure, which means including us in Law 044 that establishes the figure of a trial of responsibilities for the exercise of our functions,” he stressed.

Los vocales del órgano electoral también plantearán la modificación de la ley de juzgamiento de altas autoridades del Estado para que sean juzgados en un juicio de responsabilidades por sus actos durante el ejercicio de funciones.
El vocal del Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE), Tahuichi Tahuichi, anunció que ese órgano del Estado convocará a los representantes de partidos políticos a una reunión para definir si este año se prioriza la realización de elecciones primarias o elecciones judiciales.
«Vamos a convocar a todos los partidos políticos de alcance nacional con una finalidad de lograr ciertos acercamientos justamente para anular las elecciones primarias porque hemos entrado al momento de definición de si queremos elecciones judiciales o elecciones primarias», manifestó ayer el funcionario en una entrevista con la red televisiva Cadena A.
Las previsiones electorales indican que este año se debe realizar las elecciones primarias en la que los partidos políticos eligen a su candidato que los representará en las elecciones generales de 2025; sin embargo, también está en curso la elección de altos magistrados del órgano Judicial.
El proceso electoral para la elección de los altos cargos de la justicia debía realizarse el año pasado, pero la falta de acuerdos en la Asamblea Legislativa postergaron esos comicios y ahora entra en conflicto con las primarias.
El presidente del TSE, Oscar Hasentteufel, anunció el viernes que ese órgano del Estado está elaborando un proyecto de ley para la anulación de las elecciones primarias del calendario electoral para priorizar la celebración de elecciones judiciales.
«La elección judicial es una elección que no debe ser contaminada con otro tipo de componentes y en una elección primaria siempre está el elemento político presente», justificó entonces la autoridad electoral.
El vocal Tahuichi manifestó también que otro objetivo de la reunión será la solicitud para que los vocales electorales sean juzgados mediante un juicio de responsabilidades por los delitos o faltas que pudiesen cometer en el ejercicio de sus funciones.
«El otro objetivo de la reunión es para pedirles a los políticos que tienen representación en la Asamblea que sean honestos, que nos den garantías para trabajar bajo ninguna presión política y eso significa que nos incluyan en la Ley 044 que establece la figura de juicio de responsabilidades por el ejercicio de sus funciones», puntualizó.
