Östreicher lawyer declared him as disappeared
Yimmy Montaño, lawyer of Jacob Östreicher, ruled out this Monday the possibility of escape of his client and said that his client never expressed the desire to leave Bolivia because he intended to prove his innocence.
“We are concerned about this situation, we have brought to the knowledge of the Bolivian police the disappearance of my client and I doubt much that has escaped because he has been very brave in supporting an unfair process for more than three years,” said the lawyer.
Informal versions, collected by local media, ensured that Östreicher, facing a process for drug trafficking in the Bolivian justice, escaped the country this weekend.
Montano said that for one-year, Östreicher rigorously fulfilled precautionary measures, such as house arrest and a restriction order.
“On December 11, I met him in the Palace of Justice, where he expressed me his concern about the delay in the process, but any other extraordinary situation?, reported MONTAÑO in time to say, that, that was the last time he made contact with his client.”
The lawyer said to have knowledge of a trip that Östreicher would have done to the city of La Paz to hold a meeting with the Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of United States in Bolivia.
MONTAÑO reiterated that his client did not want to leave the country, because he claimed to always prove his innocence before the Court.
