Expert points out that the current Government is the most conflictive in history

2013-12-12 08.45.44 amEven before the Government of Evo Morales, the Unión Democrática y Popular (UDP) had the record for greatest number of conflicts reported with 54 cases per month. In the current regime, 70 cases were registered.

An expert in pragmatics generative and transformative conflict, César Rojas Ríos, reported on Wednesday that the Government of Evo Morales beat historical record in number of conflicts recorded per month in Bolivia.

He explained that until him [current president] coming to power, the average was 54 monthly conflicts and which now reach up to 70. Rojas participated as exhibitor in the first meeting specialized in conflict resolution in the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA).

The aim of the event was the analysis of the various conflicts that were developed in Bolivia along its way to solve them to prevent more clashes between the different sectors of society and history.

“Even before the Government of Morales, the record of conflicts was made by the Democratic and Popular Unity (UDP) with 54 different conflicts per month as an average. In the case of the Government of Evo Morales we have up to 70 different conflicts per month, which means that conflicts have increased. The conflict has increased”, explained the specialist.

However, the specialist said that in contrast to the experiences of the past, the social sectors only seek being part of the benefits of the Government and not overthrow it, as happened in previous regimes. [I’d say its anarchy and everyone tries to have a portion of the wealth, as like demanding their cut…]

He also noted that policies badly calculated, positive appearance, may also end up degenerating into conflict. “Certainly, a new pattern of conflicts is that people want to start a piece of cake to the Government, but does not want the Government falling in contrast to what happened in the past. “Is also part of the new pattern measures which seemed positive turns into a window of mobilization for various sectors”, said Rojas.

The conflict’s expert, also referred to measures of pressure that holds the National Confederation of drivers to increase the price of tickets at 50 cents between December 22 and 24.

He explained that it is part of the new pattern generating little planning on the part of the Government mobilization of various organizations of Bolivian society. Rojas participates of the first specialized meeting on conflict resolution, an event organized by the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA), which bring together experts in this subject.
