They intend to bring machinery in for illegal mining activity in the Tuichi River
Despite the existence of environmental precautionary measures in favor of the Tuichi River in the Madidi National Park and Integrated Management Natural Area, issued by the Plenary Chamber of the Agro-Environmental Tribunal, it was reported today, according to residents of the town of Apolo in Franz Tamayo Province of the department of La Paz, that there is an attempt to bring heavy machinery into the protected area through the Santa Cruz del Valle Ameno control post for illegal gold-mining operations.
A backhoe is being hauled by a tow truck bound for the Virgen del Rosario community, located on the banks of the Tuichi River, where, allegedly, Chinese gold-mining cooperative members operate illegally.
The Plenary Chamber of the Agro-Environmental Tribunal issued Environmental Order No. SP-TAA 012/2025, which establishes Environmental Precautionary Measures due to threats to biodiversity conservation, the environment, and public health in the Tuichi River within the Madidi National Park and Integrated Management Natural Area, where 44 illegal gold-mining operations exist.
The National Service of Protected Areas (Sernap) must enforce the precautionary measures, including the prohibition on making changes and the ban on the entry of heavy machinery into Madidi.
However, as of the close of this edition, it was learned that at the Santa Cruz del Valle Ameno control post the protection corps is stationed with only three park rangers and one environmental monitoring officer, who will attempt to prevent the illegal act.

Pretenden ingresar maquinaria para actividad minera ilegal en río Tuichi
A pesar de la existencia de medidas cautelares ambientales en beneficio del río Tuichi del Parque Nacional y Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Madidi, emitido por la Sala Plena del Tribunal Agroambiental, se evidenció esta jornada, según los pobladores de la localidad de Apolo de la provincia Franz Tamayo del departamento de La Paz, que se pretende ingresar maquinaria pesada al área protegida por el puesto de control de Santa Cruz del Valle Ameno para operaciones mineras auríferas ilegales.
Una retroexcavadora está siendo transportada por un camión de remolque con destino a la comunidad Virgen del Rosario ubicada en la ribera del río Tuichi donde operan de forma ilegal, supuestamente, cooperativistas mineros auríferos chinos.
La Sala Plena del Tribunal Agroambiental emitió el Auto Ambiental No. SP-TAA 012/2025 en el que se establece Medidas Cautelares Ambientales por amenaza de conservación de la biodiversidad, medio ambiente y salud pública al río Tuichi del Parque Nacional y Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Madidi, donde existen 44 operaciones mineras auríferas ilegales.
El Servicio Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (Sernap) deberá hacer cumplir las medidas cautelares con la prohibición de innovar y prohibición el ingreso de maquinaria pesada al interior del Madidi.
Sin embargo, se conoció hasta el cierre de esta edición, que en el puesto de control de Santa Cruz del Valle Ameno se encuentra apostado el cuerpo de protección sólo con tres guardaparques y una funcionaria de monitoreo ambiental, quienes intentarán evitar el acto ilegal.
