Productive sector reports 331 properties seized across the country and calls for an end to illegal land takeovers

After a meeting with the Santa Cruz Governorship, the Departmental Court of Justice (TDJ), and the Prosecutor’s Office, the president of the Eastern Agricultural Chamber (CAO) recalled that the sector’s productive agenda prioritizes legal security for rural work

“We need the return of legal security,” demanded Frerking (third to the left).

The productive sector denounced that there are 331 properties seized across the country, following an emergency meeting with the Santa Cruz Governorship, the Departmental Court of Justice, the Prosecutor’s Office, and other institutions in response to new cases of illegal land occupations.

We have 331 properties seized in the country. These are official figures,” said CAO president Klaus Frerking, who called for an end to land invasions.

Frerking emphasized that legal security is an urgent condition to guarantee agricultural production, reminding that the sector generates 1.6 million jobs nationwide and feeds 80% of Bolivia’s population from Santa Cruz.

He added that in the next agricultural campaign, 3 million hectares will be sown in Bolivia, of which 2.2 million will be in Santa Cruz — underscoring the need to ensure farming activities.

We need the return of legal security so that every producer and citizen here in Santa Cruz can invest again. Without investment, there will be no future — we won’t have food for Santa Cruz or for export,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Abraham Nogales, president of the Oilseed and Wheat Producers Association (Anapo), warned that land invasions harm not only producers but also the environment.

“The invaders slash and burn, start fires, cause floods, and are now diverting the Grande River. This roundtable will set a precedent so that from now on, anyone who illegally enters productive properties will face punishment,” Nogales said.

The meeting was called by the Santa Cruz Governorship after new violent incidents on properties such as Patujú, in Montero, where a producer and his workers were kidnapped and beaten by an armed group. At the same time, a new land seizure was reported in Guarayos.

“Be aware that the justice system will be relentless. There will be no recognition of jurisdictional privileges or exemptions when the Constitution and the law are violated,” stated TDJ president Aldo Quezada.
