Bolivia population, shame on you! – ¡Bolivianos, qué vergüenza!

Editorial from El Diario:

A population that does not accept taking care of itself and being disciplined

The presence of the coronavirus entails a series of difficulties not only for the authorities but for the very environments in which the evil is performed that does not shake in causing more victims because, even if there is experience due to the pain caused by the victims, there are people reluctant to take care of themselves and, worse, they tend to be undisciplined; they are people who deny the right to the authorities to regulate their lives and tell them how their behavior should be to avoid further contagion. The examples are pathetic: residents of Santa Cruz and El Alto have shown that they are not willing to comply with the provisions to avoid infections and even less to be disciplined; they have verified that there are contempts in their neighborhoods that have already caused many deaths and that they do not do much for the inhabitants of the neighborhood to stay at home, take care of their children, wear chinstraps, wash their hands and avoid contact with other people.

What to do in such difficult situations? How can you convince insensitive people, contrary to the rights of others, in love with their family, but who demand that the authorities solve the problem without them helping with anything? In many neighborhoods of these cities their inhabitants are not aware and act irresponsibly in the face of the quarantine and presence of the virus, which will surely take more victims in those neighborhoods or nuclei of nearby populations.

Obviously, there are people in many parts of the country who are reluctant to the care and prevention of infections, many resort to household items and the most refuse to be examined by doctors. In cases, there is a refusal to allow entry into homes that, surely, house people who are already infected and require hospital care; they do not realize that they are infecting relatives and neighbors who live in the same neighborhood; Authorities reports indicate that they would have been attacked just for asking them to go to the doctor or to receive some medicine: this means that there is irrationality, indifference and irresponsibility with what happens; but, in any case, they are the first to propose solutions to the government and demand provision of food and medicine.

The national community understands the multiple difficulties that the health authorities and the municipalities must overcome; but they have no other choice but to continue their sacrificed work to the point of resorting to the Police and the Armed Forces to evict infected people and transfer them to the nearby hospital: otherwise, infections will increase every day.
