Poaching threatens vicuña population | Caza furtiva amenaza a población de vicuñas

By El Diario:

Vicuñas in the Quri Qarwa region were chased by hunters on motorcycles and in pickup trucks, then shot and stripped of their fleece.

The slaughter of around 100 vicuñas between the last week of May and early June—all with firearms due to poaching in the towns of Papujio, Cayñi, Pacorcollo, and Wiñay Rosa Pata in the department of Oruro, and in Cahuaycollu, Cala Cala, and Leucasi in the department of Potosí—demonstrates the lack of protection from the State for the communities managing this wild species.

The communities managing this wild species in Oruro and Potosí are unprotected despite the current regulations in the country.
