2025, a Crucial Electoral Year

  • In 2024, moral and institutional conflicts demonstrated that corruption can exist both in the ruling party and the opposition, making the urgent implementation of true judicial reform necessary, stated Deputy Alejandra Camargo.

Bolivia needs to be heard by political leaders and society to build a better country.

2024 will be remembered as a year marked by economic challenges, political turmoil, and tensions, according to Alejandra Camargo, a deputy from Comunidad Ciudadana (CC). She also noted that 2025 will be defined as an electoral year, where Bolivians must show whether they have learned the lessons of a cycle characterized by uncertainty and crisis.

“The year 2024 tested us as a country, as a society, and as individuals. It was a year marked by economic and political challenges, by tensions that forced us to reflect on who we are and where we want to go as Bolivians,” said the legislator representing Cochabamba on her social media platforms.

According to Camargo, last year’s economic crisis demonstrated the urgent need to propose a new development model for the country. This was compounded by political conflicts, ranging from endless blockades to a staged coup, all of which served as reminders that democracy is not just a right but a shared responsibility.

She also emphasized that moral and institutional conflicts revealed that corruption exists in both the ruling party and the opposition, underscoring the urgent need for genuine judicial reform.

“2024 was filled with difficult moments that have shown us that Bolivia needs profound change—a political, structural, and social reform that aligns with the aspirations of our people in the 21st century,” she stated.

Regarding the new term, Camargo described it as “a crucial electoral year,” a moment to demonstrate that Bolivians have learned the lessons from two decades of uncertainty and crisis under the rule of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS).

“It is time to move beyond empty rhetoric and historical mistakes, to elect leaders who work for the common good, who represent and listen to the diversity of all Bolivians, and who prioritize the shared future of our nation,” she expressed.

With the hope that the new year will bring wiser decisions, a more critical spirit, and a collective will to build a better country, the opposition legislator reminded that Bolivia is a resilient nation capable of making the right choices to move forward.
