Anapo considers that diesel imports “are not working” due to the lack of dollars | Anapo considera que la importación de diésel “no está funcionando” por la falta de dólares

For producers, the decrees do not address the short-term needs of the production sector, which requires adherence to agricultural cycles.

The president of the Oilseeds and Wheat Producers Association (Anapo), Fernando Romero, stated this Friday that diesel imports for the private sector “are not working” because of the required dollars.

“It is not working to the extent needed, especially in the emergency moment we are experiencing, where emergency measures are necessary to enable viable emergency solutions,” he lamented in an interview with ERBOL.

Since September, Supreme Decree 5218 has been in effect, establishing a regulatory framework for hydrocarbon imports, while Supreme Decree 5271 authorizes the import and commercialization of fuels.

However, according to Romero, the decrees do not address the short-term needs of the production sector, which requires adherence to agricultural cycles to avoid affecting production and food security.

He also pointed out that the lack of dollars is causing “great distress” among entrepreneurs due to rising costs for various imported products. To obtain the currency, he said, “exorbitant” bank transfer fees are required.

“I believe it is important to establish that these incentives can be temporary given the emergency we are facing. However, our assessment is not positive, as these measures are not being implemented at the speed and urgency the sector currently requires,” he stated.

According to the government, nearly 20 companies have requested the requirements to begin fuel import and commercialization processes.
