Lies, deceptions of bankrupt masismo | Mentiras, engaños del masismo en bancarrota

They associate ‘statistical tables’ of ministers with misleading mirrors

  • Expert assures that the reality is different, when there are more people who are dedicated to informal commerce on the streets and occasional activities.

Given the recent crusade of President Luis Arce’s ministers, exposing statistical data on the economic situation, analyst Luis Eduardo Siles stated that “the economic charts” resemble the little mirrors brought by the Spanish to deceive the indigenous people during the colonial era.

He pointed out that the proof is the recent invitation of a television journalist to the president of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), Edwin Rojas, to verify that his data on the supply of dollars to the banks was not true, to which the authority bank only managed to smile without saying whether or not he accepted the challenge.

Siles maintained that the exhibition of little squares painted with statistical data actually “hide a huge lie” about what is really happening with the economic situation that Bolivians are experiencing, such as the fact that Bolivia has the lowest unemployment rate in the region, without recognizing that Bolivia has the largest informal economy in the world.

He explained that lately some ministers have dedicated themselves to showing charts on international reserves, gold reserves, data on employment or numbers on growth, when in reality everything has gone up, with the most affected being the item of imported medicines, which has doubled in price.

“This reminds me of the Spanish conquistadors who convinced many natives with small mirrors that they were fascinated by the indigenous people. These little mirrors were given as gifts to deceive them and today they are used by ministers as if they could replace reality,” he declared.

He regretted that ministers use “their little charts, pretending to convey airs of seriousness when in reality they are just plain lies.” In his opinion, the authorities, in order to justify the unemployment rate, take the candy seller on the corner, the market seller or the street vendor as if it were a formal job.

He stated that these “little charts show the big lie when the Central Bank says that the dollar costs 6.96 for sale and throughout Bolivia it is known that in the parallel market it is at 7.80, affecting importers or those who want to travel abroad. .

“There are no dollars, there is no diesel, there are no reserves; what there is, is a big lie and more people on the streets of La Paz selling or begging for something much more than before,” he said.

He believes that this situation will not be resolved with economic sophistry or the discourse of import substitution or that “we are getting ahead” or the little charts without any tangible results for the benefit of Bolivians. (Erbol)
