They demand that the Government stop harassing Amparo Carvajal
- They denounce that the octogenarian activist is intimidated by strikers related to Edgar Salazar who are near Carvajal and to whom the police bring food and blankets.
- The president of the Apdhb does not give up and today she has been on the watch for 51 days, while judges and prosecutors refuse to investigate and punish the crimes committed against her.
Activists denounced yesterday that Amparo Carvajal is harassed by strikers related to Edgar Salazar who are by her side, who is holding a vigil on the terrace of the headquarters of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (APDHB) in La Paz, a building that was taken over by the parallel group.
They also maintain that she is the victim of physical and psychological torture, because, on her eleventh day of vigil on the terrace of that institution, she was harassed by three women who stayed meters away from her and even used and left dirty the portable toilet that was provided for her.
Carvajal affirmed that she will continue with the extreme measure, she pointed out that her health is deteriorating and that the three people who were next to her as “strikers” received privileged treatment. Her family doctor was no longer present because she “asked him not to interfere in the measure.”
However, the octogenarian president of the Apdhb does not give in and today she will complete 51 days of vigil, given the attitude of judges and prosecutors, who refuse to investigate and punish the crimes committed against her by people related to the Movement for Socialism (MAS), since June 2, 2023, the date of the illegal seizure of the property.
On the other hand, Manuel Morales, representative of the National Committee in Defense of Democracy (Conade) demands an end to the intimidation and violation of rights against the president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights (APDHB), Amparo Carvajal, and the governor of Santa Cruz, Fernando Camacho.
“We demand that the Government suspend the torture that it is executing through the police and that group that has taken over the Permanent Assembly,” he said.
