A very long whimper
Two years and months have passed since coca grower Morales resigned from the presidency and fled the country, but the whining remains intact, from himself and his judicial team paid for revenge.
The attorney general continues to order trials against government officials who had to take over the country after the escape of the president and his vice president, plus the resignation of all the masistas who could have replaced them.
If in 1966 Dr. Victor Paz Estenssoro had continued crying for having been overthrown on November 4, 1964, they would have laughed in his face.
René Barrientos, the overthrower, had already held elections by that time and the country had understood that the MNR government would go down in history as a “closed case.” A clean slate.
But now, fifty years later, there is a mourner who has an orchestra of prosecutors and judges paid by the Chapare Cartel, who intends to convince Bolivians that historical events can be reversed.
He and his judicial team of revenge are the only ones who remember 2019 and the case of the president who escaped losing his underpants, and he blames those who had to face the power vacuum.
A lady who was in her Beni town, enjoying the weather, then received a call from La Paz: she had to present herself in that city to assume the position of president, given that the incumbent had escaped.
Two masistas deleted themselves from the succession. The president of the senate, Adriana Salvatierra, passed, as in poker, and the president of deputies, Sergio Choque, said that the escapees were rats.
But the coca grower has decided to order his scribes, prosecutors and judges to rewrite history before the moment he boarded a Mexican plane to flee. He did not listen to his main adviser, the Cuban ambassador, who told him that he should neither resign nor escape. Listening to the advice of a Castroist should be mandatory for those who want to stay in the presidency for decades. But in this case fear was stronger, the cowardice of the one who now orders the detention of civilians and soldiers and orders it to prosecutors and judges who are on the Chapare Cartel’s payroll.
If all the presidents who did not finish their mandate in this country had had the persistence in punishing those responsible for their overthrows, the Bolivian courts would not be able to cope.
What the coca grower should do now is keep quiet, withdraw from politics, because he will never return to the presidency, and order his lackey judges to release the political prisoners, starting with the Beniana woman who showed more guts and dignity than him, because she didn’t run away.
Un lloriqueo muy largo
Han pasado dos años y meses desde que el cocalero Morales renunció a la presidencia y huyó del país, pero el lloriqueo sigue intacto, por parte de él mismo y de su equipo judicial pagado para la venganza.
Sigue el fiscal general ordenando juicios contra funcionarios del gobierno que tuvo que tomar las riendas del país después de la fuga del presidente y su vicepresidente, más la renuncia de todos los masistas que hubieran podido reemplazarlos.
Si en 1966 el doctor Victor Paz Estenssoro hubiera seguido llorando por haber sido derrocado el 4 de noviembre de 1964, se le hubieran reído en la cara.
René Barrientos, el derrocador, ya había hecho elecciones para ese momento y el país había entendido que el gobierno del MNR quedaba para la historia como un “caso cerrado”. Borrón y cuenta nueva.
Pero ahora, cincuenta años después, hay un plañidero que tiene una orquesta de fiscales y jueces pagados por el Cártel del Chapare, que pretende convencer a los bolivianos de que los hechos históricos pueden ser revertidos.
Es él y su equipo judicial de la venganza los únicos que recuerdan 2019 y el caso del presidente que fugó perdiendo los calzoncillos, y culpa de ello a quienes tuvieron que enfrentar el vacío de poder.
Una señora que estaba en su pueblo beniano gozando del clima recibió entonces una llamada de La Paz: debía presentarse en esa ciudad para asumir el cargo de presidente, en vista de que el titular había escapado.
Dos masistas se borraron de la sucesión. La presidente del senado, Adriana Salvatierra, paso, como en el póker, y el presidente de diputados, Sergio Choque, dijo que los escapados eran unas ratas.
Pero el cocalero ha decidido ordenar a sus escribas, fiscales y jueces, reescribir la historia antes del momento en que abordó un avión mexicano para huir. No escuchó a su principal asesor, el embajador cubano, quien le dijo que no debía ni renunciar ni escapar. Escuchar los consejos de un castrista deber ser cosa obligatoria para quienes quieren quedarse en la presidencia por décadas. Pero en este caso pudo más el miedo, la cobardía del que ahora ordena la detención de civiles y militares y se lo ordena a fiscales y jueces que están en la planilla del Cártel del Chapare.
Si todos los presidentes que no terminaron su mandato en este país hubieran tenido la persistencia en castigar a los responsables de sus derrocamientos, los juzgados de Bolivia no darían abasto.
Lo que debe hacer ahora el cocalero es callar, retirarse de la política, porque nunca más volverá a la presidencia, y ordenar a sus jueces lacayos que liberen a los presos políticos, comenzando por la beniana que mostró tener más agallas y dignidad que él, porque no huyó.
