Santa Cruz concentrates 83% of legalizing land clearing
Under the state plan, 512,291 hectares and the production of grain and livestock, priority shall be recorded.
At least 2,022 (83%) of agricultural land, livestock, dairy, pig farmers and poultry farmers, of 2,426 that legalized clearing, were executed between 1996 and 2011, in the framework of the Food Production and Recovery of Forests (UCAB), are in Santa Cruz.
The information was disclosed by the national coordinator of UCAB, Alex Escalante, public accountability of the state unit that took place in Santa Cruz. Realized that the other farms that benefited from the program are divided into Beni, Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, La Paz, Pando and Tarija.
On the balance of this year, Escalante highlighted the registration of 512,291 hectares, of which holders pledged to strengthen and develop livestock activities on 323,893 hectares and expanding the agricultural frontier -planting grains- at 169,102 hectares. The UCAB grossed Bs98.5 million.
Escalante said the livestock component, producers, most cruceños are committed to grow grass in the cleared land to develop production systems that lead to strengthening national cattle population area. In the agricultural component, strategic planting crops such as corn, sugarcane, rice, sorghum, wheat and other grains.
On accountability, separately, the leaders of the Eastern Agricultural Chamber (CAO) and the Association of Producers of Oilseeds and Wheat (ANAPO), Julio Roda and Demetrio Perez, respectively, requested the coordinator of the UCAB to expand the term program closure scheduled for February 25. They noted that there are producers from the Chiquitanía and the Chaco in Santa Cruz that have lack of information and have no financial resources.
Making it clear that it has no jurisdiction to define this issue and that the decision corresponds to another instance, Escalante said social organizations from the Chaco, Amazonia, Chiquitania and north of La Paz formalized the request for extension of the program.
