While some will cheer, I find despicable to legalize child labor

Children deserve to be loved, to enjoy their childhood, to be able to play, learn, in order to become honest, hard-working citizens, in the future, not now!

NEW BOLIVIA LAW WOULD ALLOW 10-YEAR-OLDS TO WORK

2014-07-05 09.30.14 amLA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) — Bolivia’s Congress has passed legislation to allow children as young age 10 to work as long as it does not interfere with their education and is done independently to help the child’s family make ends meet.

The legislation otherwise lowers the legal working age to 12 – again, as long the job does not interfere with the child’s education.

A regional official with the U.N. International Labor Organization, Carmen Moreno, says the legislation passed Wednesday night would make Bolivia the first country to make work by 10-year-olds legal.

Moreno called the legislation worrisome considering that Bolivia is a signatory a U.N. convention that sets 14 as the minimum age for child labor.

The Bolivian legislation is expected to be signed into law shortly by President Evo Morales.

Cheap politics under a desperate effort to perpetuate themselves in power. The coca leader aims at winning the illegitimate -re-re-election. Today is the turn of children. Despite any decrees, laws that occasional rulers may wish to enforce. The ultimate decision for children’s wellbeing are the parents. They are the ones who should engage in responsible parenting.

Children are not supposed to help raise their baby brethren, they shouldn’t be charged with the responsibility you work, you eat. To begin with, none of us decided where or when to be born. Therefore, children should be given proper care, love and affection. What this sorry government is doing is perpetuating the suffering of those children in need.
