Bolivia may suffer more blackouts… very soon!

The electricity reserves approached zero this week, private sector fears more blackouts over the short run.

In September 7, the demand in the Wholesale Electric Market (MEM) reported 1,043 MW, when the historical maximum data reached 1,050 MW, in August 18. According to the information provided by the National Committee of Charge Dispatch (CNDC) in its website, as of last July, it was recorded an annual growth of 7.9 in energy. On the other hand, the thermal generation does not even reach 90% of its maximum volume. These centrals generate 75.59% of the electricity in-country, while the hydroelectric only supplies 24.21% of the total. The demand inside the MEM as of July, grew at an annual rate of 7.9% of energy and 7.3% in power.
