As you can see on yesterday’s Santa Cruz city photo; smoke threatens our health, it damages the environment and is a cause of accidents (an Aerocon flight to Trinidad is still missing, search was impaired because of the smoke). Yesterday, 34 out of 36 airports in intermediate cities have been closed, until weather conditions improve. Hope for wind and rain to clear the skies and put out illegal fires are of main concern to society. There are places where visibility is reduced to 200 meters ahead.
As of yesterday, 16,368 heat points were identified; most are located in the northeast of Bolivia. Fires go out of control because of strong winds and drier conditions during this time of the year.
