TIPNIS and YAPACANI road blockade. Update, August 9, 2011

The Bolivian government said they will wait to meet with the indigenous groups prior to decide on the road construction that intends to cut in half the TIPNIS. Indigenous leaders did not go today to the meeting called by the government. (Los Tiempos)

Yapacani: the road between Santa Cruz and Cochabamba was blocked since last night. Police broke the blockade around 14:20 hours today Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Police had to use tear gas to disband blockaders. People in Yapacani are gathered and it is expected that they will continue with their pressure to have the government accept their demands.
