The president of the Eastern Transport Chamber, Luis Añez, asked the Government for an anti-blockade law, or alternatively to hold a referendum so that the people can decide whether they agree with this measure.

“We have spoken about an anti-blockade law; we have asked the president to enact an anti-blockade law or to call a referendum so that the people decide whether an anti-blockade law is useful or not, whether they agree with it or not,” he stated.

He explained that the pressure tactic of blocking roads causes multimillion-dollar losses to the sector and to the population in general, since it breaks the productive chain by preventing the transport of goods.

In addition to this proposal, they are asking that a supply of good-quality fuel be guaranteed, along with legal certainty in order to circulate freely, and that highways be kept in proper condition for transit.

“We ask the Government for legal certainty so that we can circulate, that the roads be in proper condition, and that it guarantee that we are going to leave from point A and arrive at point B without running into blockades,” he emphasized.
