Municipalities have prepared schedules that include parades, dances, the lighting of giant trees, and millions of colorful lights.

The Christmas atmosphere is already felt in several Bolivian cities, where local governments have planned activities ranging from parades and dances to the lighting of giant Christmas trees and millions of lights.

La Paz announces the largest Christmas tree
On Friday night, “the largest Christmas tree” in the seat of government will be lit. However, according to the La Paz mayor’s office, the Christmas caravan will take place this Wednesday night. The schedule includes a parade on the 13th of this month.

Millions of lights and a 42-meter tree in Cochabamba
Cochabamba began December in a festive spirit. On Monday night, Mayor Manfred Reyes Villa took part in the lighting of a 42-meter-tall tree. In addition, 10 million Christmas lights were switched on throughout the city, and the Cristo de la Concordia was illuminated.

Oruro begins its Christmas celebration on Monday
The Municipal Government of Oruro reported that the Christmas tree lighting will take place on Monday, December 8, in the Plaza 10 de Febrero. This event will mark the beginning of the end-of-year festivities. However, the municipality has not yet released its full Christmas schedule.

In Chuquisaca, San Francisco Xavier launches the festive season
On Monday, San Francisco Xavier University in Chuquisaca kicked off the Christmas season in the city of Sucre. The event featured the lighting of the largest Christmas tree in “Sucre,” celebrated with carols and chuntunquis. 

Tarija’s chapaca Christmas begins today with the lighting of decorations
The Tarija mayor’s office announced that Wednesday night the Christmas lights will be turned on in Luis de Fuentes y Vargas Square and at the municipal building. This week’s Christmas schedule includes the picana festival and the lighting at the theme park on Thursday the 4th. The Expo Cap will take place on the 5th and 6th, and on Sunday the lights will be turned on at Uriondo Square.

Santa Cruz opens its Christmas schedule with a cultural celebration
On the night of November 30, Santa Cruz began its Christmas activities with a festive event. The Municipal Secretariat of Cultures highlighted that the four Sundays of December will feature year-end cultural activities, and on Sunday the 7th the Christmas tree will be lit.

On their information channels, the municipalities of Potosí, Cobija, and Trinidad have not yet posted announcements regarding their Christmas tree lightings or end-of-year schedules.
