Concepción is getting ready to open its doors to one of the most anticipated gatherings in eastern Bolivia: the Orchid Festival, which will take place from October 10 to 12. The event, known for showcasing the most exotic flowers, blends culture, art, gastronomy, and nature. Here are some details.

For three days, this municipality—declared the Sanctuary of the Bolivian Orchid—will serve as the main stage for the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Jesuit Missions of Chiquitos.

The event is organized by the Center for Participation and Sustainable Human Development (Cepad) and the Autonomous Municipal Government of Concepción, with the support of the Diputación de Cáceres, Helvetas, Sofía, the Hugo Landívar Cuéllar Foundation, Exomad Green, and Terreno Urbanizaciones.

Its origins

Since its creation in 2001, the festival has become a tourism icon of the Santa Cruz department. More than two decades later, it continues to be a space that celebrates biodiversity, promotes sustainable tourism, and strengthens the region’s economic and social development, bringing together indigenous communities, artists, artisans, and local entrepreneurs.

For the 2025 edition

The program for this new edition will offer visitors a wide range of activities for all tastes: concerts, theater, painting, dance, regional gastronomy, and native crafts.

There will also be hiking tours among native orchids in the El Carmen Community, an introduction to Chiquitano culture in the Santa Rita Community, practical workshops, talks, documentaries, competitions, and a journey into the imagination of Chiquitano mythology.

This year, the cultural stage will feature performances by Grupo Fiesta Cuetillo and Vero Pérez. In theater, Romy Paz, Porfirio Azogue, Alex Suarez, Guillermo Serrate, and Carolina Solís will perform, accompanied by the Cattleya Expressarte Theater Ensemble. Additionally, there will be contributions from prominent content creators.

Surprises in store

As a novelty, the festival will launch promotional prices to visit different pahuichis along the Chiquitano Roots Tourist Route— a unique opportunity for visitors to experience Chiquitano hospitality firsthand and discover the essence of the region through traditional spaces designed to share its historical, gastronomic, and cultural heritage.
