Banking institutions set the amount of 100 dollars as the maximum withdrawal for people who have dollar accounts.

Brújula Digital visited on Friday Banco de Crédito de Bolivia (BCP), Banco Nacional de Bolivia (BNB), Banco Ganadero, Banco Mercantil Santa Cruz, and Banco Unión to inquire about the amount that could be withdrawn in U.S. currency in case of having dollar accounts.

At BCP and Ganadero banks, staff indicated that the maximum withdrawal per week is 100 dollars at any of their branches. In the case of BNB, the amount is the same, but withdrawals can only be made at their offices located on Camacho Avenue or in the Florida area in the South Zone.

At Banco Mercantil, withdrawals of up to 100 dollars are allowed on a biweekly basis; however, the staff member clarified that the withdrawal amount may vary depending on each client’s account, so it is recommended to visit the financial institution or call to obtain exact information.

In the case of Banco Unión, the person attending indicated that the amount may vary depending on the branch visited and that there is no set maximum withdrawal amount.

Currently, the exchange rate stands at about 15 bolivianos for selling and 13.69 bolivianos for buying, representing an increase of 115.52% and 98.25%, respectively, compared to the official exchange rate.

From the Government, the Minister of Planning and Development, Sergio Cusicanqui, indicated that the exchange rate rose due to the lack of approval of external credits by the Plurinational Legislative Assembly.
