The MAS keeps Camacho imprisoned out of revenge | El MAS mantiene preso a Camacho por venganza

By El Diario:

  • Deputy Tatiana Añez asserts that Camacho’s detention is part of the political revenge by “MAS supporters.”
  • Citizens, civic platforms, and political leaders joined a caravan to demand justice for the governor of Santa Cruz.
Hundreds of people, including family members, friends, politicians, civic leaders, and neighbors, participated in the caravan commemorating two years of preventive detention for the elected governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho Vaca.

On the second anniversary of his imprisonment, the head of the national Creemos caucus, Representative Tatiana Añez, stated that the Movement for Socialism (MAS) government keeps the elected governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, as a political prisoner in an act of political revenge. She also emphasized that the departmental authority is a symbol of the struggle faced by an entire country.

The opposition assembly member noted that, despite his political imprisonment, Camacho continues to foster the unity of all political forces to restore democracy, justice, and human rights in Bolivia. “A clear example of this is the visits from former presidents like Carlos Mesa and Jorge Quiroga, as well as other leaders and representatives of various organizations, showing support for the departmental authority,” she said.

Meanwhile, the president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, accompanied by Representative María Elena Reque, highlighted Camacho’s resilience and positive demeanor despite all the adversities and abuse of power against him during their visit to Chonchocoro.

Former President Carlos Mesa Gisbert expressed his support for the departmental authority via social media, stating that Camacho’s release, along with that of all political persecuted individuals in the country, “is an imperative” and a debt that must be addressed after the 2025 elections.

Yesterday, a caravan of citizens, civic platforms, and political leaders came together to demand justice and commemorate the two years since Luis Fernando Camacho’s arrest.
