Heavy Transport Sector Announces Indefinite Strike and Blockade from June 27, Demands Minister Montaño’s Resignation

The heavy transport sector has given the Government until June 26 to address their demands, which include resolving the shortage of dollars and ensuring a stable supply of fuel.

The national assembly of the heavy transport sector, held in Santa Cruz, decided to initiate a strike with road blockades starting on June 27 if the Government does not meet their demands. These demands include resolving the shortage of dollars and the supply of fuel. Additionally, they demand the dismissal of the Minister of Public Works, Edgar Montaño.

“We are giving the national Government 72 hours to solve these problems,” said Héctor Mercado.

Regarding the meeting held over the weekend with President Luis Arce, the transporters indicated that no agreement was reached and that the President imposed conditions instead of negotiating.

The transport sector has announced that they will be on the country’s highways and at border points to ensure their protest is effective.
