Three Bolivian films will participate in Cannes
According to Prensa Latina the Director of the Cinemateca Boliviana, Mela Marquez, the country will be present at the French coast with a short movie, a feature film project and a remake in English.
The filmmaker Rodrigo Bellott will be presented at the fortnight as producer of the film of terror We are what we are, a zombie story that is his first foray into Hollywood. The production, directed by John Michel, is the first American film to make a remake (adaptation) of a Mexican production and had its premiere on 18 January at the Sundance Festival in the United States.
According to Marquez, also President of the Association of filmmakers of Bolivia, will come in addition to the French appointment, director Juan Pablo Richter and his short film El ultimo paso, which will be presented in the Short Film Corner, a space of ideas.
This short film, Eduardo Abaroa won second place in the category of audiovisual of the Bolivian Award and won the first prize at the 11th International Festival of Cinema Digital Fenavid. Finally, a young Bolivian filmmaker, Denisse Arancibia, will present Las Malcogidas project at the Cannes market, where hopes to engage producers and international distributors to culminate its realization.
