Yesterday (La Razon 9/4/11), five ministers and the TIPNIS protest walk met in San Borja. After a delayed beginning, six alternatives of the road, that have an impact on the TIPNIS, were presented by the government to the indigenous group: first alternative is the road goes right in the middle of the TIPNIS; for the 2nd, 3rd and 5th alternatives, the road would be bordering the center. The 4th aims at crossing the TIPNIS by its left side; and the 6th by its right. The indigenous group is now analyzing these alternatives, they are meeting with closed doors, they asked the press to leave that meeting. Hopefully, negotiations will continue today.

Pagina Siete reports that originally three issues were going to be discussed: the road through the TIPNIS; hydrocarbon activities in the Aguarague National Park and Land Titling. Then, the decision was to just discuss the road. There is a probability that the negotiations will be broken as both sides do not engage: indigenous groups do not want the road to cut the TIPNIS and the government continues to push on that alternative.
