A disgusting disgrace called Lara | Un asqueroso oprobio llamado lara

Lara raises the tone, moves to insults and threats against Paz after 80 days in office

“I’ve got him shitting himself” and “he’s going to pay and face justice, he won’t get away with it,” were some of the statements the vice president hurled at the head of state.

Controversies inside the Executive branch continue, this time with threats and insults made by Vice President Edmand Lara against President Rodrigo Paz, whom he warned he will prosecute once his term ends over the decree that allows him to govern remotely. But it did not stop there. Lara insulted the president and said he “had him shitting himself” so that he would comply with payment of the Dignidad bonus. This comes just 80 days after taking office.

“I’ve had Rodrigo shitting himself every day. When are you going to comply with the Dignidad pension, when are you going to comply, and starting in February you’re going to start paying the 500 bolivianos, because I’ve got them shitting themselves, I’ve got them by the balls, I don’t even let him breathe,” Lara said during an event presenting candidates in Oruro for the upcoming regional elections.

In addition to those insults, he said that “Rodrigo is not going to mock the people, Rodrigo is not going to lie to the people, because if it’s necessary to go out and protest, we will do it, but always respecting the Constitution and people’s rights.”

During that event, Lara did not limit himself to questioning government actions, including those within the Legislature regarding so-called “anti-blockade” rules, which seek to put a lock on road blockades that, it is argued, harm the country’s economy.

Case over Supreme Decree 5515

Beyond the insults, the vice president issued a warning to Paz, saying he will prosecute him once he leaves power, following the promulgation of Supreme Decree 5515, which provides that the president may exercise his functions through technological means when he is outside the country.

“They want to govern by decree, trampling on the Constitution (…). When has such stupidity ever been seen? But I leave it to time. Every tyrant dies from his own poison,” Lara said.

He also stated that Paz “is trampling on the Political Constitution of the State; the day he stops being president, that day we will judge him with the very decree he has signed.”

He added that the promulgation of that rule constitutes an alleged “piece of evidence of a crime” and that therefore Paz “is going to pay and render accounts before justice, he will not get away with it.”

In addition, during the presentation of candidates for Oruro authorities, Lara asked Paz to stop complaining and said people are tired of it.

“Truly visionary men, successful men, look for solutions to problems and don’t live complaining (…). We know they robbed us for 20 years, but put them in jail and take everything they stole, all the assets, and look for solutions to the problems. If the President is going to live complaining, the people are tired of complaints. We want solutions,” he insisted.

Lara’s statements come amid internal tensions within the Executive Branch, which have already been expressed in previous public clashes between both authorities, raising questions about government coordination.
