Arami, by Marsia Taha, among the 50 best restaurants in Latin America | Arami, de Marsia Taha, entre los 50 mejores restaurantes de Latinoamérica

By Edwin Fernández, Los Tiempos:

Arami, led by Bolivian chef Marsia Taha Mohamed, ranked 48th on the prestigious Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list, whose award ceremony took place yesterday in the city of Antigua, Guatemala.

El Chato, from Colombia, was named the new Best Restaurant in Latin America this season, followed by Peru’s Kjolle by Pía León and Argentina’s Don Julio.

Arami also received the “Restaurants that have opened successfully and deserve praise” award from La Liste, the world’s most selective guide for gourmets and demanding travelers.

Arami, which means “little heaven” in Guaraní, opened in November 2024, founded by chef Marsia Taha Mohamed and sociologist and sommelier Andrea Moscoso Weise.

Taha Mohamed trained in Bolivia and Spain and worked in renowned European restaurants before joining Gustu in La Paz in 2013, where she spent ten years as head chef before becoming executive chef.

In 2024, she was named Latin America’s Best Female Chef on the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 list.

For her part, Moscoso Weise specializes in identity, gastronomy, and restaurant development. As a sommelier, she celebrates the unique heritage of Bolivian wine.

Arami’s menu explores the connection between the Amazon River and the Andes, considering both the intersection of these landscapes and ecosystems and the cultural exchange between these regions. The resulting dishes—such as a fig tart with sacha inchi (mountain peanut) and goat cheese, or a dish of coconut, tucupi (a sauce made from cassava root), and edible flowers—are thoughtful and creative.

Located in the Achumani neighborhood of La Paz, Arami offers an informal setting. Decorated mainly with light and gray wood, its minimalist design allows its perfectly composed dishes to take center stage.
