The Association of Rubber and Brazil Nut Producers of Pando (Asprogoalpa) denounced the substitute senator-elect from the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), Humberto Suárez Egüez, for land grabbing in the north of the country and for allegedly encouraging similar actions in Beni, according to Radio Frontera of the Erbol-Cobija network.

Asprogoalpa representative Rodrigo Roca reported that more than 40 communities issued a statement addressed to the PDC’s vice-presidential candidate, Edmand Lara, in which the communities of the Madre de Dios Regional, comprising San Lorenzo and El Sena, expressed their rejection of the substitute legislator.

Roca stated that Suárez presents himself as a peasant leader without being native to the area, and that his actions disturb the livelihood of producers engaged in rubber and Brazil nut extraction, through alleged land grabbing in the siringal (rubber tree) areas bordering Brazil.

Producers warned of potential land trafficking due to the lack of legal security and requested that authorities declare ecological sanctuaries to prevent illegal activities in the region. They also accused Suárez of being a land grabber, land trafficker, and false peasant leader, as he does not belong to any recognized community nor appear in the INRA database.
