This Thursday, while Eduardo Del Castillo (MAS-IPSP) was taking part in a campaign event in the capital of Santa Cruz, he was intercepted by Melissa Barba, owner of the Santa Rita property (Guarayos, Santa Cruz), which was seized days earlier, and she questioned him about why he appears in photographs with alleged land squatters.

Initially, Del Castillo had arrived at the November 4 Market as part of his campaign activities and left a few minutes later; it was at that moment that Barba, after showing him some photographs, confronted him.

“If you’re not with the land invaders, why are you hugging the leaders of the land seizures?” Barba asked.

In response, Del Castillo said that the property rights of some areas in Bolivia have yet to be fully formalized.

After that answer, Barba again questioned why he appears in photos with leaders of the land seizures and why Esteban Alavi is listed as one of the MAS candidates despite being accused of participating in the illegal occupation of land.

“I don’t know you, and I could take a photo with you — that doesn’t mean there’s anything between us,” Del Castillo said.

Regarding Alavi, who is registered as a candidate for senator for MAS, Del Castillo said he is not in charge of nominations.
