Amid a tense political climate, Facebook deleted the account of radio station Kawsachun Coca (RKC), after it was revealed that it had published a series of posts flagged and reported as “false.”

The outlet, which widely covers the activities of former president Evo Morales, has had several of its publications reviewed for accuracy by the portal Bolivia Verifica.

One of the most recent posts reviewed by the portal is from June 8 and refers to a mobilization of a group of people allegedly in support of Morales. However, “these images were not taken in Bolivia. The original audiovisual material was published on May 29, 2025, in Nepal, that is, in the southern part of the Asian continent,” Bolivia Verifica noted.

That same day, the radio station based in the town of Lauca Ñ, in the Cochabamba Tropics, published a statement in the name of the Bolivian Police, denouncing “abuses” and “disregard” by the Government, with a threat to take action on its own due to the crisis the country is facing. However, the General Command refuted the outlet and stated that the institution’s official position is “different.”

Earlier, on June 6, RKC shared a video of the Ponchos Rojos from La Paz, in which they were seen preparing to protest at the government headquarters due to the economic crisis. “But the video shared is not current. It was published in August 2020. The protests were against the government led at the time by former president Jeanine Áñez.”

On the 4th of the same month, the now-closed Facebook page announced that the president of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), Edwin Rojas, had resigned through a letter addressed to President Luis Arce Catacora. Shortly after, the BCB clarified that the document was false. “Rojas did not resign and, the next day, participated in the meeting of Bolivian economists,” the portal recalled in a video published on its TikTok account.

Information

Bolivia Verifica also analyzed the attendance at the latest march promoted by the former president on May 16. At the time, it was claimed that the mobilization gathered 3.6 million people. However, “if we calculate 4 people per square meter, the figure would exceed 300,000 mobilized, not 3 million as claimed. Using logic, the cities of La Paz and El Alto have a combined total of 1,640,767 inhabitants. If more than 3 million people had arrived in La Paz, the city would have collapsed,” the video emphasized.

The deleted account was verified. A verified Facebook account, indicated by a blue badge, confirms that the platform has authenticated the account as the official presence of a person, brand, or entity.

However, there is still a page under the name RKC that has maintained posts from Morales’ followers for several months.
