The digital dollar reached Bs 20 per unit this Thursday, May 15, in the parallel market, hitting its highest historical peak in Bolivia.

According to platforms that trade cryptoassets such as USDT, the U.S. currency went from Bs 15.20—its rate at the beginning of the week—to Bs 19.60, a figure recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, before reaching Bs 20 (7:35 a.m. local time).

The information was published on the monitoring platform Mauforonda.github.io, which updates the exchange rate in real time.

The Bolivian Institute of Foreign Trade (IBCE) called on President Luis Arce to take measures to stop the rising exchange rate, including freeing up exports and approving loans in the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP).

According to information published on the website of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), which uses USDT as a reference in its monitoring of the digital dollar, the average value of the digital dollar was Bs 16.10 as of the close of Tuesday, May 13.
