The president of the Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Services and Tourism of Santa Cruz (CAINCO), Jean Pierre Antelo, stated this Monday that 80% of the population does not receive a salary increase; however, they are already paying more for bread.

“80% of Bolivians who live day to day do not receive a single extra peso, but today pay double for bread,” the businessman wrote on his X account.

This Monday it was announced that the increase to the National Minimum Wage (SMN) will be 10%, raising the amount from Bs 2,500 to Bs 2,750, while the base salary will rise by up to 5%.

According to the businessman, there is no decree that can cover up what everyone sees: “the crisis is real and getting deeper every day.”

He added that informality is becoming permanent and that the Government’s measures are only applauded by the accomplices of an exhausted economic model.

By tradition, the Government issues the supreme decree that establishes the salary increase on May 1 in commemoration of Labor Day.
