As part of International Tourism Day, the Urus Diablada presented a beautiful showcase of the Oruro Carnival, declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

As part of International Tourism Day, the Urus Diablada presented a stunning showcase of the Oruro Carnival, declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The event featured the participation of dozens of other musical fraternities.

The Urus dancers, dressed in their traditional light blue jumpsuits and wearing their spectacular masks, radiated unmatched energy as they delighted the audience with traditional diabladas and cacharpayas. Urus is known for shooting fire from the devil masks.

The enthusiastic crowd joined in with applause and sang loudly to the iconic cueca “Viva Mi Patria Bolivia” by Apolinar Camacho. Some attendees eagerly joined the dances alongside visitors, enjoying the cultural richness that defines this heritage expression.

The celebration took place at the Plaza de las Culturas y la Madre Tierra in the city of La Paz, aiming to highlight Bolivia’s diversity and rich tourism potential. This plaza is located at the former La Paz train station.

The musical backdrop featured renowned groups such as Awatiñas, Kory Huayras, Histeria, and Grupo Tambor Mayor, along with folkloric ballets and other invited artists, enriching a day full of culture and tradition.
