There are still 14 roadblocks in Bolivia; Cochabamba remains isolated, and there are protests in Santa Cruz and Oruro.

This Saturday marks six days of roadblocks led by ‘Evo supporters’ across the country. Early this morning, an attempt was made to set up a second blockade in Oruro, but the police intervened and cleared it.

As the weekend begins, 14 roadblocks persist across Bolivia. Most of them are in Cochabamba, a department that has been isolated from the rest of the country since Monday, October 14.

Additionally, there are blockades in Santa Cruz and Oruro, although in Oruro, there is only one protest point in Challapata, on the route to Potosí. In another part of the same department, early Saturday morning, ‘Evo supporters’ set up a blockade in Caracollo, but the police later cleared the area.

Most of the blockade points are located along the old and new highways connecting Santa Cruz and Cochabamba.

This Saturday marks six days of nationwide blockades. The protests began on Monday, but the demonstrators only released a list of 10 demands on Wednesday, which include the repeal of Supreme Decree (DS) No. 4910, prohibiting the sale of gasoline and/or diesel in jerry cans, and DS No. 5195, which allows duty-free wheat imports, among other demands. In the same statement, they acknowledged that the protest is aimed at “protecting Evo.”

In line with this, Senator Leonardo Loza accused the government this week of being behind political trials and stated that if the government drops them, the blockade will end.
