Sectors such as transportation, health, and trade unions announce measures of pressure to get the Government to address their demands.

After days of mobilizations and negotiations, a week of protests is approaching as the transportation, health, and trade union sectors demand government attention to their issues, including fuel supply, the solution to the dollar shortage, and the annulment of “forced retirement.”

Heavy transport leaders have decided to start a roadblock from Thursday, June 27, after not receiving satisfactory responses from the government following a meeting with President Luis Arce last Sunday.

The health sector announced a 120-hour strike in rejection of “mandatory retirement.” The measure, which could consist of a five-day consecutive strike, aims to pressure the government to repeal the law that mandates retirement at 65 years old, subject to a medical examination.

Meanwhile, trade unions are also preparing to intensify their protest actions. During a national assembly, they will define new pressure measures to demand solutions to the dollar shortage, the removal of the presidents of the National Customs, the repeal of Supreme Decree 4732, and the annulment of resolution 102111 from the National Tax Service, among others.

In this regard, Community Citizen (CC) deputy Alejandra Camargo stated that such warnings respond to the public’s fatigue with “empty promises” and asserted that the lack of dialogue with the government only endangers the country’s stability and threatens to deepen the current crisis.
