The winds above 60 kilometers per hour that have been recorded since Thursday began to wreak havoc when the situation in August worsened, the month in which the alarms for forest fires traditionally begin to go off. Any spark spreads like wildfire with the help of strong winds and this Friday Santa Cruz begins the weekend with several novelties: the rise in the alarm scale, with the declaration of an orange alert and two worrying fires: the one in the vicinity of Viru Viru, and the one that threatens to enter the Santa Cruz la Vieja Park.
Pablo Sauto, Secretary of Sustainable Development and Environment of the Government, launched this Friday the orange alert for forest fires, in response to the increase in emergencies in the department.
Currently six fires are reported distributed in the municipalities of: San José, San Antonio de Lomerío, Warnes and the metropolitan area.
This declaration allows the affected municipalities to activate communication campaigns to the population likely to be affected by potential risks, as well as to put into effect the protocols to be followed in the event of disaster situations.
Sauto reported that to date 102 emergencies have been registered, of which 83 are interface fires in the metropolitan area and 18 are forest fires that have occurred in areas of denser vegetation that present different ecosystems, being the provinces of Ángel Sandoval, Germán Busch, Chiquitos, Ñuflo de Chávez, Cordillera, Guarayos, Velasco and Andrés Ibáñez, which have the highest incidence of forest emergencies.
“In accordance with Law No. 602 on Risk Management and due to the increase in heat sources, and climatic conditions conducive to the spread of fires, we declare the orange alert, in this way we suggest that municipal governments activate the mechanisms and protocols to follow in case of emergencies and disasters in their municipalities, in addition to the COEM municipal emergency committees and provide logistics for the attention of forest fires”, Sauto affirmed.

Attention in the vicinity of Viru Viru airport
Around noon, a grassland fire was reported a few meters from the runway of the Viru Viru airport, in the capital of Santa Cruz. Visibility is almost nil in the place.

Fire in the provinces
Meanwhile, Yovenka Rosado, director of Natural Resources, explained that there are decentralized fire units in the five most vulnerable provinces: Ángel Sandoval, Germán Busch, Chiquitos, Ñuflo de Chávez and Velasco, giving immediate response to emergencies, in addition of being equipped.
As of today, the Forest Fire Early Warning System (Satif), detected 360 sources of heat for this Friday and reported on the six emergencies in the department, announcing the displacement of a second fire brigade to help liquidate the fire. fire in the municipality of San José de Chiquitos, while the baffled brigade in the Ñuflo de Chávez province continues to fight the fire in the municipality of San Antonio del Lomerío and this fight will be joined by a second brigade that left today for that municipality.

Los vientos por arriba de los 60 kilómetros por hora que se registran desde la jornada de este jueves empiezan a causar estragos a la hora de empeorar la situación de agosto, el mes en el que tradicionalmente se empiezan a encender las alarmas por incendios forestales. Cualquier chispa se extiende como la pólvora con la ayuda de los fuertes vientos y este viernes Santa Cruz inicia el fin de semana con varias novedades: la subida en la escala de alarma, con la declaratoria de alerta naranja y dos incendios que preocupan: el de las inmediaciones de Viru Viru, y el que amenaza con ingresar al Parque Santa Cruz la Vieja.
Pablo Sauto, secretario de Desarrollo Sostenible y Medio Ambiente de la Gobernación, lanzó este viernes la alerta naranja por incendios forestales, como respuesta ante el incremento de emergencias en el departamento.
Actualmente se reportan seis incendios distribuidos en los municipios de: San José, San Antonio de Lomerío, Warnes y la zona metropolitana.
Esta declaratoria permite a los municipios afectados activar campañas de comunicación a la población susceptible de ser afectada por los riesgos potenciales, así como también que se pongan en vigencia los protocolos a seguir en caso de presentarse situaciones de desastres.
Sauto informó que a la fecha se han registrado 102 emergencias, de las cuales 83 son incendios de interface en el área metropolitana y 18 son incendios forestales que han ocurrido en áreas de vegetación más densa que presentan diferentes ecosistemas, siendo las provincias Ángel Sandoval, Germán Busch, Chiquitos, Ñuflo de Chávez, Cordillera, Guarayos, Velasco y Andrés Ibáñez las que tienen mayor incidencia de emergencias forestales.
“Conforme a la Ley N°602 de Gestión de Riesgo y debido al aumento de focos de calor, y condiciones climáticas propicias para la propagación de incendios declaramos la alerta naranja, de esta manera sugerimos a los gobiernos municipales activar los mecanismos y protocolos a seguir en caso de presentarse emergencias y desastres en sus municipios, además de los comités de emergencia municipal COEM y prever logística para la atención de incendios forestales”, afirmó Sauto.

Atención en las proximidades del aeropuerto Viru Viru
Cerca del mediodía se reportó un incendio de pastizales a escasos metros de la pista de aterrizaje del aeropuerto Viru Viru, de la capital cruceña. La visibilidad es casi nula en el lugar.
Ante la situación, el Centro de Emergencia Departamental se hizo presente en el lugar, el Director de gestión de Riesgo, Israel Gareca, comanda actualmente la operación con los bomberos de la Dirección de Recursos Naturales (Direna), así como con los rescatistas de la Gobernación. Horas más tarde se sumaron Bomberos Voluntarios Quebracho, Bomberos Voluntarios Guardián y
Bomberos Voluntarios Jenecherú.
Sauto, que también se desplazó al lugar, expresó que el fuego avanza muy rápido porque hay demasiado viento, por ello se ha movilizado gran cantidad de bomberos y la sisterna de la Gobernación.
“Tenemos 2 frentes de fuego y hay cerca algunas viviendas. Tenemos dos unidades de ataque rápido trabajando. En estos momentos estamos evaluando la pertinencia de hacer un ataque directo o un cortafuego”.

Fuego en las provincias
En tanto, Yovenka Rosado, directora de Recursos Naturales, explicó que existen unidades de bomberos desconcentradas en las cinco provincias más vulnerables: Ángel Sandoval, Germán Busch, Chiquitos, Ñuflo de Chávez y Velasco, dando respuesta de inmediata a las emergencias, además de encontrarse equipados.
Para el día de hoy el Sistema de Alerta Temprana de Incendio Forestal (Satif), detectó 360 focos de calor para este viernes e informó sobre las seis emergencias en el departamento, anunciando el desplazamiento de una segunda brigada de bomberos para coadyuvar a la liquidación del incendio en el municipio de San José de Chiquitos, mientras que la brigada desconcertada en la provincia Ñuflo de Chávez, continúa combatiendo el incendio en el municipio de San Antonio del Lomerío y a este combate se unirá una segunda brigada que partió el día de hoy hacia ese municipio.
La Gobernación anunció que solicitarán de manera formal al Ministerio de Defensa Civil que movilicen a las Fuerzas Armadas para que coadyuven al combate, control y liquidación de las emergencias forestales en los municipios de San José y San Antonio de Lomerío.
