Representing Bolivia, Potosí obtains fourth place in the robotics world championship
The achievement was achieved by the Pablo Vi school team, from Caiza D.
The Bolivian robotics team, made up mainly of the Pablo VI de Caiza D school team, Potosí, finished fourth in the FIRST Global Challenge after four days of competition in Geneva, Switzerland. The youngsters obtained a total of 1622 points, which left them one point behind the third place shared by Senegal, Hungary, Puerto Rico and North Macedonia.
“The Bolivian robotics team made history. They were fourth in the world, just one point off the podium,” it was reported on the team’s social network.
“Thanks to our national team for raising the name of our country! It is the first time in history that the Bolivian team finishes the robotics world championship in the top 4!”, he adds.
The FIRST Global Challenge is an international robotics competition that invites each nation to submit a team to build and program a robot to compete.
“Teams work together to complete tasks in a game themed around one of the greatest challenges facing our planet, including the 14 Grand Engineering Challenges, in an effort to foster understanding and cooperation among the world’s youth while they use their skills to solve the world’s problems”, states on the website.
This year’s event was held in Geneva from October 13-16. The Bolivian team is made up of: Magaly Muruchi Choque, Yoseth Mamani Astorga, Baneza Tuco Choquevillca, Stefany Veizaga Ovando and Ismael Suyo Condori. They were the winners of the Fifth National Robotics Tournament – FIRST Global Bolivia held in Sucre.

El logro fue alcanzado por el equipo del colegio Pablo Vi, de Caiza D.
La selección boliviana de robótica, integrada mayoritariamente por el equipo del colegio Pavlo Vi de Caiza D, Potosí, finalizó en el cuarto puesto del FIRST Global Challenge después de cuatro días de competencia en Ginebra, Suiza. Los jóvenes obtuvieron un total de 1622 puntos, lo que los dejó a un punto del tercer lugar que comparten Senegal, Hungría, Puerto Rico y Macedonia del Norte.
“La selección boliviana de robótica hizo historia. Ellos obtuvieron el cuarto puesto a nivel mundial, a solo un punto del podio”, se informó en la red social del equipo.
“¡Gracias a nuestras selección por dejar en alto el nombre de nuestro país! ¡Es la primera vez en la historia que la selección boliviana termina el mundial de robótica en el top 4!”, agrega.
El FIRST Global Challenge es una competición internacional de robótica que invita a cada nación a enviar un equipo para construir y programar un robot para competir.
“Los equipos trabajan juntos para completar tareas en un juego temático en torno a uno de los mayores desafíos que afronta nuestro planeta, incluidos los 14 Grandes Desafíos de la Ingeniería, en un esfuerzo por fomentar la comprensión y la cooperación entre los jóvenes del mundo mientras utilizan sus habilidades para resolver los problemas del mundo”, consta en la página web.
El evento de este año se llevó a cabo en Ginebra del 13 al 16 de octubre. El equipo boliviano está formado por: Magaly Muruchi Choque, Yoseth Mamani Astorga, Baneza Tuco Choquevillca, Stefany Veizaga Ovando e Ismael Suyo Condori. Ellos fueron los ganadores del Quinto Torneo Nacional de Robótica – FIRST Global Bolivia realizado en Sucre.
