The Municipal School of Silversmithing promotes the dissemination of its work carried out by students who are trained in the different phases of jewelry manufacturing, with the aim of using the silver produced in Potosí in finished jewelry products, among others.

The secretary of Cultural and Patrimonial Tourism Development of the mayor’s office, Sheyla Beltrán, reported that through fairs and other activities they promote the recovery of silver, in addition to the silver work carried out by master silversmiths.

“Now there is a revaluation process with the elaboration of jewels in an infinity of designs. It is important that the population of Potosí knows what we have in this potential, ”she said.

In the silver school, the talent of the students is encouraged, she said, in this area that is important for the silver-producing region.

Apart from the history of Cerro Rico, the minting of coins and others that are part of history, Beltrán stressed the importance of the artistic work of silversmithing.

The students expose the processes of silver work in the workshops, from the forge, the chiselling, the molten pouring, the striking and the design of the jewels.

At the beginning of the year began the training of new students. The Mayor’s Office, at the beginning of the year, offered scholarships to train students in handmade jewelry. The aim is to continue promoting this task to rescue traditional silversmithing.

The courses are offered by the school to those who are interested in having a comprehensive training that lasts one year. Students can go to have more information from 18 years of age.

This school is part of the activities to train human resources dedicated to preserving traditional practices, in this case silversmithing, considering the importance of Potosí as a mining site.

Buscan incentivar la formación de recurso humano en orfebrería.

La Escuela Municipal de Platería promueve la difusión de sus trabajos realizados por los estudiantes quienes se capacitan en las diferentes fases de la fabricación de joyas, con la finalidad de utilizar la plata producida en Potosí en productos terminados de joyería entre otras.

La secretaria de Desarrollo Turístico Cultural y Patrimonial de alcaldía, Sheyla Beltrán, informó que mediante ferias y otras actividades promueven la recuperación de la plata, además del trabajo en plata realizado por maestros plateros.

“Ahora se está teniendo un proceso de revalorización con la elaboración de joyas en una infinidad de diseños. Es importante que la población potosina conozca lo que tenemos en este potencial”, dijo.

En la escuela de platería, el talento de los estudiantes es impulsado dijo, en este rubro que es importante para la región productora de plata.

Al margen de la historia del Cerro Rico, la acuñación de monedas y otros que forman parte de la historia, Beltrán remarcó la importancia del trabajo artístico de la platería.

Los estudiantes exponen los procesos de trabajo de plata en los talleres, desde la forja, el cincelado, el vaciado, el golpeado y el diseño de las joyas.

A inicios de gestión comenzaron la formación de alumnos nuevos. La Alcaldía, a inicios de año, ofreció las becas para formar a estudiantes en joyería artesanal. Se busca seguir impulsando esta tarea para rescatar la orfebrería tradicional.

Los cursos son ofrecidos por la escuela a quienes están interesados en tener una formación integral que dura un año. Los estudiantes pueden acudir a tener más información a partir de los 18 años de edad.

Esta escuela forma parte de las actividades para formar a recurso humano que se dedique a preservar las prácticas tradicionales, en este caso de la orfebrería, considerando la importancia de Potosí como yacimiento minero.
