Benefit for Bolivia set for Aug. 26
WOODSTOCK — The Benefit for Bolivia fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at Rich’s Foxwillow Pines Nursery Inc., 11618 McConnell Road.
Sales of hostas and colorful handicrafts made by Bolivians will benefit the charity. All one-gallon hostas will be sold for $5 each. Bolivian crafts include scarves, sweaters, tablecloths, bags and coin purses.
The owners of the nursery, Rich and Susan Eyre, support Mano a Mano International Partners, a small organization working to improve lives in rural Bolivia. Rich worked with co-founder Joan Velasquez 49 years ago in Bolivia in the Peace Corps. Mano a Mano’s work focuses on building hospitals, schools, roads and irrigation projects. It has built more than 150 functioning hospitals.

Bolivian Thoughts opinion: And this is the way American Bolivian friends keep on helping the needy. Despite the cheap demagogue of rulers like the actual coca grower, the relationship between both countries is real!
